GreenPois0n RC5 Untethered 4.2.1 Jailbreak Supports iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad, iPod touch 2G, 3G, 4G. Wont Work on iOS 4.3

The news today is that it appears GreenPois0n RC5 will be bringing untethered jailbreak to iOS 4.2.1 sooner rather than later. Twitter user @JHackstar tipped us off to a Wiki showing that GreenPois0n RC5 is ‘coming VERY soon’ and will support all devices.

The reason for the new movement is that Apple has now closed the loophole hackers have been using up until iOS 4.3. Now there’s obviously no point in waiting for the new update to be released it’s been decided that GreenPois0n will go ahead as-is, with a new attempt at 4.3 to be made later. iPhone hacker Pod2g has also confirmed this on Twitter:

``The good point is that because of this (and the fact that Apple fixed the kernel exploit in 4.3), we’re all working back on releasing gp.``

That’s great news on 3 levels. First, I’m sure plenty of you have been waiting for an untethered jailbreak on 4.2.1 for a long time now. Second, the new GreenPois0n will work on ALL hardware. It’s great to hear that nobody will be left out in the cold this time around. Thirdly, it’s good to hear a release isn’t too far away.

PlayStation 3 3.56 cracked and jailbroken!

Infamous Wii hacker Youness Alaoui (aka KaKaRoToKS) took all of a day to crack and jailbreak the PlayStation 3 3.56 update, which means the 3.56 signing keys are already out, so it shouldn’t come across as a surprise to anyone if they receive an updated custom firmware in a day or so which spoofs 3.56 and re-enables PSN access. We do know that system software 3.56 is a “minor update that adds a security patch”, where it will introduce a new encryption key that is capable of wiping out all current homebrew functionality. PS3 homebrew or have jailbroken owners on PS3 3.55 might not want to make the jump to firmware 3.56 at the moment, since doing so would mean a pretty tough time backtracking. Let us see what Sony will do now as the ball is clearly in their court.

PS3 Firmware v3.56 Released, Blocks Custom Jailbroken Firmware

It’s been a busy day for Sony so far, what with them launching a new handheld console today already. Now they’ve also released a software update for their PlayStation 3 bringing the version number up to 3.56.

Described as a ‘minor update’, the new update adds a security patch  while also blocking 3rd party firmwares from being used.

Sony’s PS3 console has become the jailbreaker’s latest target recently and Sony isn’t taking it laying down.

Clearly Sony is going down the technology route to stop jailbreaking as well as the legal route.

iOS 4.2.1 Untethered Jailbreak with Greenpois0n RC5 by Chronic-Dev Team

Here's a bit of good new, few moment ago Chronic dev-team -the team behind Greenpois0n- has just demoed us a good progress on untethering jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 4, which means that we are very near to get the new Greenpois0n RC5  to have an untethered jailbreak for all iOS devices.

 

Till now, no one of the Chronic dev-team members has announce any ETA for Greenpois0n RC5, but all I have to say now, thanks Chronic dev-team for the hard work. As usual I will update you once more information comes-in.
UPDATE: Pod2g, the hacker behind the exploit used on Greenpois0n has just announced that the Chronic dev-team has just one small bug to release Greenpois0n untethered jailbreak for all iOS devices, precisely, the wifi icon doesn't show up after jailbreak with Greenpois0n.

A small bug remains, the wifi icon don't show up. But it's there. As you see, we need some more time to fix and pack everything.
